Pastoral Support

Portrait of Mrs Leslie Gilbert

My name is Miss Gilbert, and I am the Pastoral Manager, I am one of the safeguarding leads and a qualified counsellor. I have worked at Trinity Road for ten years.

My role at Trinity Road School is to support children, and their care givers, with their wellbeing.

I am always on school gates on opening in the morning and at the end of the day, you can also contact me via the school office. I will always make time to either speak with you in person or by telephone on the main school number. I can be contacted from 8am daily by phoning the school on 02145 354517, by choosing option 2 on the school telephone number.

Below is brief summary of some of the topics I can help you and your children with:

  • Worries or concerns about your child settling into school
  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Parenting support
  • Children’s friendships within school
  • Food bank vouchers
  • Accessing support for you and your family
  • Referrals to the school nurse and mental health teams
  • Information for transition into Year 7

End of the Day Conversation

I’m sure that on collection you are asking them how their day has been, what they have done at school and what was for lunch? For a lot of children, the response will be ‘they didn’t play with anyone, and they do not remember what they did at school or even if they had lunch’. Please do not worry this is a normal response at the end of their day, although on occasion worrying for you as the caregiver as you to try to decide if your child has no one to play with, hasn’t completed any work and not eaten all day! You could change this around by telling your child about your day first, tell them two or three good things about your day, however small they maybe, then go onto asking your child to tell you two good things about their day as well, again these can be very small. This will help to take the pressure off your child and focuses on the positive of their day!

Please come and chat with me about any concerns you have about your child or family, I am always hear to listen and help if I can.
